TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In the lead up to the 2024 Presidential Election, President Jokowi is making more political moves. For example, he met with two presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Ganjar Pranowo in a rice field in Kebumen, Central Java, on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Is this a new pairing that has Jokowi’s blessing?

This is not the first report of Jokowi’s plan to pair Ganjar with Prabowo. At the end of last year, Jokowi also met with Prabowo and asked the Gerindra Party general chair if he were prepared to run with the Central Java governor. Discussions within Gerindra about this began in earnest at the start of this year.
A number of sources have stated that Jokowi wants the Ganjar-Prabowo pairing to run against Anies Baswedan, whose electability is on the rise. The electability of all three men is well ahead of the other candidates. Pairing Ganjar with Prabowo would be the best choice because Anies is being supported by the Democrat Party, the Justice and Prosperity Party (PKS) and the National Democrat (NasDem) Party.
As well as Ganjar and Prabowo, Jokowi also has other options. He met with Sandiaga Uno, who is also a contestant of the 2019 presidential election. He is reported to also want Sandiaga to run in 2024. Jokowi has also spread his support around other candidates.
Besides the matter of presidential candidates, a number of sources have stated that Jokowi would actually be happier to extend his term of office. So far, he has not explicitly rejected the idea of extending his presidential term period, as a result, the proposal continues to be talked about during his second administration.
Why would Jokowi want to decide who will replace him? Enjoy the magazine.
